From Vijay Hazare to history books: Kohli’s red-hot form puts another Sachin record on the brink
The modern-day cricketing legend Virat Kohli recently made his resounding comeback to Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years. It was nothing short of a dream return as Kohli played match-winning knocks for Delhi, including a century and a half century against Andhra and Gujarat respectively. The matches were held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. He smashed 131 on 101 balls in the opening match of Delhi against Andhra Pradesh that helped Delhi achieve the target of 299 in just 37.3 overs. In the next match against Gujarat, the 37-year old former Indian captain played a 77-run inning off 61 balls.
Although Kohli has retired from remaining two formats besides ODIs, he is the closest active cricketer to this unmatched record of the God of Cricket with 84 centuries. For many years, this record has been untouched, and Virat Kohli is the only player who seems to have the potential to break it if he completes 17 more tons in ODIs.
Virat Kohli Vs. Sachin Tendulkar in List A Matches
There is no doubt that Virat Kohli has been serving Indian cricket with utmost brilliance. He has filled the big shoes of the master Sachin Tendulkar. After Sachin’s retirement there was a huge void and everybody thought Indian cricket could never produce a legend like him. However, the baton was successfully transferred to the modern-day legend Virat Kohli. The best part is that the passionate boy from Delhi took this responsibility with immense precision and changed the face of Indian cricket forever.

Along with 84 centuries, Kohli is the only active batsman to be closest to Sachin’s mammoth record of 100 international centuries. While it will be an interesting thing to see if he reaches the record or not as the former Indian captain is playing only the ODI format (India plays very few ODI games). On the other hand, the giant of white ball cricket is very close to surpassing another record of Sachin Tendulkar in domestic games.
Currently, Virat has 58 List A centuries to his name whereas the God of Cricket has overall 60 centuries. As per the latest BCCI rules, every player has to serve their respective domestic state whenever they are available. Considering this, Virat Kohli must be playing further matches in the domestic circuit. Additionally, King Kohli is looking in sublime form. Thus, three more centuries won’t be a tough task for him.

The Ro-Ko is Back in Action
Besides this, the Run Machine Kohli is going to face the Kiwi attack in a three-match ODI series starting from 11th January. Considering his current form, there are high chances that he would step closer to the ultimate record of centuries. Fans are really excited about this upcoming series as their favorites Virat and Rohit will be back in action one more time.
The first game is to be played at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium, Kotambi. The pitch is known to be favourable for batters but spinners will have a role to play. Considering the winter season in India, dew will also have a crucial role, especially in the second innings. It will be interesting to see how these ODI stalwarts of Indian cricket will cash the conditions. In a nutshell, fans would expect the continuation of the SA series from both.
