One Comment, Endless Chaos: Kohli’s Test Exit Triggers Manjarekar vs Fans War, Uthappa Sends a Powerful Signal
A huge online debate started when Sanjay Manjarekar, a former Indian cricketer, made a controversial statement for Virat Kohli’s test retirement. In a contentious remark, he said that the legend did not put his heart and soul to recover from the bad phase in red-ball format, and deliberately chose the easiest format to continue with. As soon as Manjarekar shared the video on his instagram profile, fans started calling out him on social media. But the situation got heated up when Kohli’s brother stepped in with his counter statement. Without mentioning anyone, the brother Vikas Kohli said, “it seems like people cannot run their houses without taking Virat’s name.” Although he did not take any particular name, his message was clearly lashing out at the post.

On the other hand, Sanjay defended his frustration by showing displeasure on Virat Kohli’s retirement after a turbulent phase in test cricket during the famous Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, it is another matter to think whether Kohli left his beloved format or he was nudged out of the side. Sanjay further stated that those who are top-order batters in ODI format, hesitate to bat at the same position in red-ball cricket. Consequently, the 50-over one-day games become the easiest format to play. On the contrary, many cricket experts and ICT fans called it a lame argument. When it comes to ODI format, Virat Kohli stands tall among his contemporaries. His records are only next to his childhood idol Sachin Tendulkar. Additionally, he has already crossed the Master in number of ODI centuries.

Robit Uthappa’s Big Message to Virat Kohli
Right before the test series against England in 2025, the star batter Virat Kohli announced his retirement from the longest format of the game. It was surely disheartening for all his fans and his teammates as well. Amidst the heated Sanjay Majarekar controversy, Robin Uthappa sent a positive message to Virat Kohli. The former Indian wicket-keeper and batsman Uthappa shared a picture on his social media account of Kohli sweating it out in the nets prior to Ind Vs. NZ match. The caption on that picture created social media buzz when Robin wrote-
“These eyes tell u a story. Surely it’s time to rescind his Test retirement. Would love to see him back in Test cricket.” The post somehow connected the dots and fans took it as an answer to Sanjay Manjarekar’s frustrated statement. Manjarekar has been called out previously for his controversial statement regarding Ravindra Jadeja.
Before this, the jewel crown of Indian batting, Virat Kohli looked absolutely intense in his nets session before the first ODI game against Kiwis. Both the stalwarts Virat and Rohit Sharma are joining the team in a beast mode. Their recent performances in white-ball cricket have been exceptionally brilliant and both look in their vintage colours.
It will be interesting to see how they approach in the three-match series starting from 11th Jan, 2026. The kind of form, they have shown, probably cements their position in the World Cup 2027 squad.
