Not Obsessed With Hundreds, Just Hungry to Dominate — Kohli Breaks the Milestone Myth
Recent ODI games have been a treat for all Virat Kohli fans. Runs are flooding from his bat, and fans are calling it his 2016-like form. Every match he is playing is a potential for another milestone. The biggest highlight has been him closing to the giant record of 100 centuries by the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Ever since Virat Kohli showed his caliber in world cricket, people called him the next Sachin Tendulkar. Nonetheless, Kohli has created his own name, especially in white-ball cricket. Consequently, it heightens the expectations from him as well. Considering the supreme form he is in, even a slight miss from century becomes disappointment. In the first game of a three-match ODI series against Kiwis, the chase master missed his 85th international century by seven runs. For obvious reasons, it became a hot topic all over social media. Fans reacted in their own ways and showed their disappointment. Although it was a true class knock of 93 runs which led India to get in a strong position, people saw it as a missed century.
On the other hand, Kohli revealed his thoughts on his 91-ball 93 knock. During the post-match presentation, he told that-
“Honestly, if we were batting first today, I would have probably gone harder. Because there was a total on the board, I had to buckle down and play the situation. But I was feeling like I wanted to hit more boundaries.”
Virat Kohli is in a New Avatar
Ever since Kohli is back in form, he has adapted a new style of aggressive batting. Sweeps against spinners, short-arm pull, hitting sixes running down the track, and crispy square cuts have not been a major part of Vintage Virat batting template. Eventually, he won his 45th player of the match award in ODIs. When the presenter asked him if he remembers the number of POTM awards he has won, he sweetly replied that all his awards are kept with his mother in Gurgaon as she likes keeping those.
On the other hand, these new additions have made him more fierce and impactful. It seems, finding runs is so easy for him and his batting looks more dynamic. While describing his approach at number 3 position he said-
“The basic idea is I batted at number three, so if the situation is a bit tricky, I backed myself to counter-attack now rather than just trying to play the situation in.”

Before this the 37-year modern master surpassed his childhood idol when he smashed the New Zealand leg spinner Aditya Ashok for a boundary. Now, he is the fastest one to reach the milestone of 28000 international runs. It took 644 innings for Sachin Tendulkar and Kohli achieved this incredible record in his 624th inning. Besides the two stalwarts, the legend Kumar Sangakara from Sri Lanka is only the third one to be part of the 28,000 club.
When asked about missing another ton, Kohli said that he is just enjoying his game and not at all thinking about milestones. He further said that his entire journey has been nothing short of a dream come true. He thanks God for gracing him with a marvellous career and he loves what he is doing for the nation. On the other hand, fans celebrated another chase masterclass when Kohli stood there in the middle against a 300-run target. At the same time, the stadium was gloomy for a while when Virat was walking back to the pavilion. Besides all this, in the next game of the series on 14th Jan in Rajkot will be another opportunity for the run-machine Kohli to step closer to a dreamy record that every Virat fan is waiting for.
